Buried Civil War Cache

Thu, 15 Jan 98, Reader writes:

My grandmother lives in southern Missouri on about 200 acres. Toward the end of the Civil War, there was a group of Confederate soldiers led by a Colonel Parker. The group was supposed to have buried a treasure on this property while they camped. They were attacked during the night and had to flee and never recovered the treasure. It was said to be buried near a year round spring but I have no more information. About 20 years ago, someone showed up at my grandmother's house with a "map" but she said they went the wrong direction because the spring they searched for the treasure for, was not a year round spring. Any ideas?

Colonel Parker was carrying gold coins and some paper money but they never got a chance of putting it below the ground. They were pursued by Union soldiers and killed. The treasure went to the Union Army.

If you and your grandmother still think that something is buried on her property, send us a picture or a drawing of the property and we will "dowse" the picture/drawing to see if anything is buried there and let you know. A 1:50 scale map would be of great help.
