Fort Bowie, Arizona Territory: "The hostiles are out-fighting us, America's greatest army of cavalry soldiers, and our losses of good fighting men, is reducing our capability to engage the hostiles. Lieutenant, unless we get reinforcements and guns soon, the hostiles will wipe us out. Send a request to the War Department for more men and guns."
War Department: "General, here's an urgent request from Fort Bowie for reinforcements and guns. It says they've lost alot of men and is outnumbered by the hostiles. Unless they get help soon, they could be wiped out."
General: "With hostiles being engaged in all areas of the territories, there are not enough men available to send to Fort Bowie."
Colonel: "Sir, we just received a shipment of Gatlings from the factory, we could send the Gatlings to Fort Bowie."
General: "Those Gatlings cost the War Department quite a bit of money and without adequate escort protection, they could be taken by the hostiles."
Colonel: "Fort Bowie is a key location to keeping the travel routes of our citizens free of hostiles."
General: "How many Gatlings came in the shipment?"
Colonel: "Six, sir."
General: "Send that shipment out today. Hopefully, that will give them the support they need."
A small detachment of soldiers and a wagon load of six Gatling Guns are on its way to Fort Bowie. They depart Santa Fe and days out, hostiles attack. The soldiers are killed and the wagon along with its precious cargo, is buried by the hostiles. Fort Bowie does not receive its much needed reinforcements.
This account was related to us by a friend. Recently, we (Otherplane) made a trip to that area to follow up on the account. Using the device and looking specifically for the Gatlin Guns, we were able to pinpoint its approximate location. All six Gatling Guns are still with the buried wagon and they are still in their mint condition along with the ammunition for them. They are buried on ranch land and the owner does not know they are there.
