OTHERPLANE

While stationed in Norfolk, Va. in 1981, I rented a garden apartment in Oceanview which was located by City Beach. It was a one bedroom furnished place. One week after moving in I started to hear the door to my bedroom open and close. There was a shag rug on the floor and whenever the door was opened or closed it rubbed against the rug. This happened several times and always while I was just about ready to fall asleep. One night while in bed, I heard a terrible racket in the next room (which was the living room and dinette area). My door was closed but I heard someone moving around and I thought I was being robbed. I decided to quickly open the door and surprise whoever was robbing me, which I realize was stupid, but when I quickly turned on the light and opened the door the noise stopped.

Another time I was sitting a friend's poodle in my place and she had some fleas. I put her outside and went to lay down after having duty all night. I closed my door and was starting to fall asleep when I heard the door rub on the carpet but this time I could feel the vibration of someone walking across the foot of my bed and then stopping about midway up the side. I had my face against the wall. I thought it was the dog who was not allowed in the bedroom because of her fleas. I decided to turn around quickly and say boo to scare her but when I turned around no one was there. I figured I was tired.

Several months after that I acquired a roommate. One evening she approached me and said she thought the apartment had a ghost. I thought she was crazy but then I started thinking about all the weird occurrences and it actually made sense. My roomy said it was a male entity who smoked cigars and would just watch us while we slept.
