On and off for the past two years, I have noticed a smell in the hallway and in my back bedrooms (mostly in the hallway and in my room). I could never figure out what the smell was because you could walk through the smell about face height, turn right back around and the smell would be gone or walk to my bedroom and the smell would be in there. I would really notice it when I would mess around in a closet in the hallway after 6pm. After about 20 minutes of getting things out (it's where my decorations are), the smell would fill the hallway. After I put things away, the smell would go away. Prior to the last two months, I blamed it on a dead mouse or decaying food inside the closet. Now I'm not so sure and am so scared, I've been staying at my ex's house at night.
About a month ago, I fell asleep on the couch and woke up around midnight. I went to bed but tossed and turned for about two hours. I got up to get some aspirin and walked through that smell. The hair on my neck felt like it stood up. Anyway, I got my aspirin and went back to bed. When I went back through, the smell was gone. For about twenty minutes, I tossed around not being able to get comfortable. I was laying on my right side when it felt like someone sat on the edge of my bed. I then had a pressure starting from my hips up to my shoulders. Kind of like someone pressing me into the bed. It lasted, tops 10 seconds. I couldn't scream, but waved my hand in a motion like GET OFF ME!! Needless to say, I didn't get any sleep that night and was so scared all I could do there was lay in bed hoping nothing else happened.
Since then, I have noticed "him" every night except when I started reading the bible in the hall and bedrooms. He went away for about a week. When he came back was about 9 days later and the smell had changed to a pissy cat urine smell. Very strong. I called my ex and told him that my ghost was back and that I wanted to stay over at his house. I had my ex come back to my house a little later because in my haste to leave, I had left a couple of things at my house. My ex agreed with me, the smell moves and wasn't a sewer smell. He just said it was strange.
I did some research on the house. It was built in 1900-02. It was originally a one room school house out in the country. In 1947 the school house was moved into town and placed onto a basement where it was made into a one bedroom house. The woman who bought the schoolhouse sold it one year later. In 1957, they added on to the house. This addition included two bedrooms and a 3 seasons porch. They sold it about 10 years ago. The new owners rented the house out to a couple/family that pretty much trashed the place. After repairs were made, they got the tenants to move out and let their daughter live in the house for a year or so. After she moved out they let it sit empty except for a few furniture items for about three years. They rented it out to me two years ago last September. I called several people about the house and no one felt that there was anything unusual about the place. The owner's said they had to do something with the sewer lines due to not enough air in the pipes or something. Other than that nothing.
I don't seem to think that, not after the "hugging". I'm so scared to go in there, that I now no longer stay there after 8:30pm I know it's not permiating out of the walls, floor, or ceiling. I even got on my hands and knees to smell the floor the time it was so strong in the area by my computer. The only thing I smelled was the dusty floor. The smell doesn't have a link from the old section of the house to the new, so I can't explain the moving of the smell from one area to the other. (The dirt filled crawl space under the new section does not have access to the old section nor does the attics have access to each other).
One more thing too....a new neighbor in the area claims that her house is haunted too. She's a part-time Methodist Minister and lives kitty-corner behind me in a house that's just as old as mine.... Any relation between the two?
However, I need your help in telling me what this entity is and why he seems to be bothering me. Now more so than ever just within the last two months. All I have to say to him is to leave me alone. It's almost like he follows me around at night. The other night, the smell was so strong near the hallway, my only thought was that he was standing there watching me watch TV. Spooky.
A friend of mine said he thought that this spirit was trying to communicate with me. All I want to do is run. Call me chicken, but this is my first experience and hopefully my last with something like this.
