"He Was Dressed Like Someone In The 30's or 40's"

... by L. Hahn

This happened 15 years ago when I was 18 years old. I was living in a Navy housing area in California at the time.

It was early morning, the sun had just come up. I was half asleep - resting on my left side when I heard some one call my name. About the same time I heard the voice, I felt someone put their hand on the right side of my head. I could hear the muted sound that one hears when they cover their ear with their hand, and I could even hear the crinkling of my hair. I opened my eyes and saw a man standing across the room by my bedroom door. He was light gray, so I could see through him a little bit. He was dressed (casually) like someone in the 30's for 40's; his hat especially was old fashioned. I saw him only for a couple of seconds before he glided to the left toward the window. Then he was gone. Later, I told my mother what had happened, and she said that is could have been her father. He is the only grandparent that I've ever met.

When this happened I wasn't surprised or scared. For some reason I was very calm and I acted like someone (living) had just come into my room to ask a question or something and then left.

I've only had one other "encounter", but it's not that interesting...

About a year ago my 67 year old next door neighbor died from a stroke related illness. We got to know each other while I sat with him so his wife could run errands. A couple of hours after I was told that he had died, I felt his presence. I was in my room taking a nap, or I should say trying to take a nap, when I felt a whoosh of air. There is no way anything "normal", for lack of a better word, could have caused it. It was February, but the heater wasn't running at the time. I know that it was my neighbor who was visiting me.
