VISION AWARENESS AND DEVELOPMENT

by....Rob

I've been asked by Otherplane Gifted Society (OGS) to write a brief article for persons beginning to explore visions and developing these skills from that beginning level, to a higher level of understanding and focus. Ultimately, the goal is to sharpen your skills to the highest possible level of execution and understanding. My visions began over 24 years ago after being struck by lightening in a parking lot. In the beginning I chalked these visions up as "coincidences." However, soon there were just too many. Everyone has different types and degrees of vision or intuitions, if you will. I consider an intuition a form of vision without the physical "seeing" of something. I have experienced intuitions, vague daydream-like visions, dreams in which visions occur, and outright vivid visions. In talking with others, I have learned of varying degrees and combinations of these.

Being aware of these different types of visions is very important in developing each type. Being able to distinguish between random thought or daydreams and an actual form of vision is the first step in understanding and developing these skills. For some people, vivid visions are like a slap in the face and therefore not much practice is needed to hone these already powerful skills. The purpose of this article is to help others with minimal vision skills that would normally not understand or feel that they are having a type of vision. One of the most important things to get in the habit of doing on a daily basis is to set aside a portion of the day to completely clear your mind of clutter. Meditation is not necessary although that would be the most favorable method of doing this. Pick a place you like to go to get away from daily distractions, such as a favorite spot in your yard or room in your house. Clearly, it is much easier for you to experience visions if your mind is cleared.

Record your visions on paper and try and remember as many details as you can about them. Sometimes intuitions following a vision are connected to that vision and may be used as additional information. Try and focus on details of your vision for useful information, such as a house number, street name, etc. In my case there are several types of medium that can trigger a vision. In all probability, there will be certain things that you also will notice will trigger a vision. Once these mechanisms are realized, they should be used regularly, i.e., reading the paper, watching a news show, looking at photographs, etc.

Ever heard the phase "use it or lose it?" This is very true in the case of practicing vision awareness. The more often you practice triggering visions, the more often you will have them. The more often you have them, the better you will understand them. The better you understand them, the easier it is to trigger them. The cycle will now come full circle, and with patience and practice, will repeat more often and with greater ease. Often a combined group of individuals who each share the common gift of vision may be able to help others trigger their own visions, somewhat like a piece of a puzzle placed in the proper spot allowing the placement of another piece.

Past? Present? Or Future? Recognizing whether what you are seeing or feeling is past, present (happening now) or future is important in understanding your visions. It would be more difficult to verify something that has happened in the past as opposed to present or future events. But in discovering which point in time the vision is occurring may be helpful in determining the type of visions that you most likely will continue to have. Through my experience, I feel as though most people have visions mainly from only one of these timeframes. Constantly having past visions and then never getting an expected future confirmation that the vision had come true could be very discouraging.

Do your visions come true? It is not important if they do or do not. Many times I feel a vision is seen as a possible alternative if a certain course of action is taken. Often warning someone about something that was seen or felt may perpetuate the actual course of action that will prevent the vision from becoming reality. Often, as it is in my case, the visions can be very terrifying. Use this as a learning tool. Much knowledge can be gained from experiencing a vision, which, in real life, could cause serious injury or even death. For instance, seeing an accident via a vision can produce valuable information that can be used to prevent a similar one. This is what the ultimate goal is – helping others through vision experience. A gift of vision is just that . . . a gift. Use this gift to help yourself and others. With practice and patience you will soon realize a more, complete, aware and TOTAL person.
