As can imagine, my wife and I was devasated, hurt beyond imagination, when we lost our son. I asked my younger son to accompany me to the mortuary but he could not bring himself to do so. Emotionally wrecked, I understood that, but I, myself, needed some support. Finally, I went alone, I wouldn't take my wife because I did not want to put her through that pain! I was numb, and I hurt so bad that I couldn't feel anything.

Well, to make this short, I want to ask if my son was there with me (E.J.), that's what we called him. The car keys were on the table in the mortuary, as I waited for the lady to come back in to help me in making the arrangements. The keys moved! Am I crazy? When my wife and I returned from the Mortuary, after recieving my son's ashes, and as we entered the house, my walking cain fell (as I walked in). Am I crazy?

As I was about to awake one morning but had not yet opened my eyes, there was my son, sitting there in front of me. He said to me, "Daddy, my back hurts right here!" It was like I knew that my baby was gone but I didn't ask him anything about that his passing! All I said was, "Let me feel where it hurts at son." As we both stood up... he was gone! Approximately a week or two went by. One of my Grandsons was running past the television and I tried to get up and catch him, and I dropped to the floor. My back went out in the exact same spot where my son said, daddy my back hurts right here. Am I nuts?

It's not unusual to have multiple encounters when a loved one has been taken away from you. It's more traumatic to your son because he probably didn't even know that he was dead (for a while). Time will settle him down to the point of peacefulness. Don't know how long that would take but you should be doing that for him and once he can feel that you and your family is at peace, then he will do the same for himself. Let it go.
