The topic which interests me the most is OBE's. I'm wondering if it's possible, or if you've heard of anyone becoming addicted to OBE's to the extent that they start to ignore their "real" life and prefer to be out of body? I would love to learn to induce OBE's but I'm afraid I might like it so much that I wouldn't want to come back to my physical body - on the other hand, would that be so bad? What happens to you if you don't go back to your body?

Of all of the paranormal abilities/gifts, we personally think that OBE is by far the topper. We have not heard of "anyone being addicted to OBE's to the extent that they ignore their "real" life and prefer to be out of body". When we did have the Otherplane Gifted Society (OGS) active, we had several members who practiced OBE regularly. We even tried experimenting... having several members attempt to meet at a designated location. The experiment was somewhat successful but not entirely... meaning, some did reach the location, could describe the scenery in detail, but could not see or hear each other.

You do not have a choice about not returning to your body and to the living... because you are "not dead" and "it is not your time". Christopher Reeves was in a movie (Can't remember the title), that (to us), best represented what OBE is about. He was in the present and saw/fell attracted to a photograph of a woman (actress)... in the past. Somehow, a 194? something Lincoln Penny was associated or acted as a link back to the past. He wore clothes pertaining to the period, laid down and somehow ended up in the past... meeting the woman actress and eventually falling in love with her. During the movie, he did return to the present and then went back to the past again. In the end, he wanted to stay with the woman, but he somehow lost the Lincoln Penny he carried... and involuntarily returned to the present - never able to return to the past. We think this is how it ended. Did you see this movie?

OBE is a conscious state of thought manifested from deep within one's subconscious (brain)... to consciously control an action/events. Dreams/Dreaming could be labelled as a "relative" of OBE... where one would swear that everything seemed so real, the details, colors, smells of flowers, sounds and voices of someone familiar. Sometimes they even saw themselves involved within the scenery or could even change the scenery or details within the scenery. Is this a Dream or an OBE? What is known for sure... is that when it is time for the individual to wake-up, the Dream or OBE ends. The exception to this is... daydream (the indivual is awake but seems to be deep in thought - as if in a faraway look). Is this a Dream or an OBE?

So how does one know when they are actually OBE'ing and not Dreaming? We (of Otherplane), don't know the answer to that. But this we do know... Otherplane members did manage to OBE (the account is on our website - Archive/Related Accounts/Paranormal/1997/Obe). Some members believe that anyone can accomplish OBE, however, one MUST believe (in the paranormal), and not be afraid. One must be in control and conscious of what is taking place. If you happen to "expire" during an OBE... then you would not return to your body... you would simply become another type of "entity".
