The past few days have been really rough for me emotionally. It can be argued that I was just feeling the effects of the full moon, but I've been through plenty of those. This was different.
By this afternoon, around 4:30 PM CST, I was feeling so weighed down that I decided to (again) take a nap in the hopes that the heaviness would subside. My efforts at napping didn't prove successful except for a very brief lapse into a brightly colored vision.
I saw Pope John Paul II sitting in his papal chair, attired in his frock and papal hat. The background of the vision was Lake Michigan along Lake Shore Drive in Chicago at about Madison. There was an amazing continuity between the blueness of the sky and that of the water. They appeared to blend into each other at the horizon. The color itself was as "powerful" a shade of blue as can be imagined. I watched as the Pope slowly drifted off into sleep, and then very suddenly, sprang out of his papal vestige. He looked considerably younger, perhaps in his late 20's. He was so happy to be free that he began doing something of a dance as he hurriedly arranged items at a near-by table.
I seem to remember seeing the bread and wine for the eucharist and other religious artifacts that I couldn't quickly identify. I was able to see him take a bound scroll from among the items and keep a strong grip on it. I felt that it was one of the scrolls that John of Patmos was given in his vision recorded in the book of Revelations.
By then, it was clear that I was being shown the death of the Pope. I asked, "Who will follow?" (succeed John Paul II ). My question was met with silence from the several angelic beings standing mostly to my side and behind me. I looked behind the papal chair and could not see anyone ready to take the place of Pope John Paul II.
I then became aware of a woman standing far behind the chair. I either recognized her or knew intuitively that she was St. Catherine. He had a very somber expression (as if in response to my question).
I snapped awake out of the vision with a the "pressure" completely gone. In fact, I felt so energized that I then went for a drive and a walk downtown (something I would not have had the energy to do only a few minutes earlier). I am not going to attempt to interpret the meaning of the vision, aside from the obviously close at hand spiritual ascension of Pope John Paul II. But going strictly by the expression on the face of St. Catherine, I would have to say that prayer is definitely called for regarding the successor of the Pope. Beyond that, I would rather not comment.
