I am hispanic and I grew up in a family that believes in "Curanderas". When I was young my grandfather died and the "Curandera" was a friend of the family and she allowed me to speak to my dead grandfather. Was this for real? Did I really speak to him? I never really believed in it. I've never made it known to her that I don't believe her 'cause she is a close friend of the family. A lot of people go to her for healing, but recently her son was stricken with heart disease and colon cancer. He is 28 and not very long to live. Why can't she help him?

That was very nice of you to respect the Curandera lady but because of that too, that it will reinforce her belief that she can really do these things. At times that reinforcement can be done by the patient by healing themselves without knowing it. They will assume that she did it. Maybe she is gifted but not the way she is practicing it. Most of the gifted persons will wander to the left or to the right of their gift not really knowing what they're looking for. So instead of maximizing what they can do, they tend to do something else that they cannot do. But then again, how will they know which is the real ones without really getting into it.

She is already heartbroken because of her son's ailment and she is also aware of why she cannot cure her own son. That will be her own reality.
