I have a few questions about funerals. Do the dead witness their own funerals? Can the dead hear the prayers that are being said over them? When someone kisses the forehead of the departed, are they allowed to feel it?

When a person dies, we glorify their passing with a funeral. Similar rituals/ceremonies have been going on since earliest civilizations. We do this to honor and remember this person's final rite of passage to the otherside and we in-turn feel calmness and at peace with ourselves, knowing that someday it will be our time for the final rite of passage. And the process repeats itself again and again. It would not be unusual for the departed to attend their own funeral and observe its proceedings with equal emotions. When all is said and done, the spirit moves on.
