About 4 years ago my father, sister and I moved into a 3 bedroom with my aunt. At the time, I was a senior in high school and was about 4 months from graduation. My aunt had her own room as well as me. My sister and cousin shared a room and my father slept on the couch in the living room. Anyway, after about 2 weeks of living there, we started noticing strange things going on. I've always been interested in the paranormal, but my family thought it was nothing but a bunch of bull. Well, one night my aunt was sitting in her room watching TV (with the lights off), when suddenly, the lights came on full blast (my aunt has one of the dial light switches that dim the lights). Needless to say it freaked her out.
Some of my family tried to tell her it was probably a short in the wire. No way. The dial had to be physicaly moved. I'm into electronics and so is my dad, and there is no way this could have happened on its own. Then there was my room. Whenever you went to go and turn the light on (light switch, not a lamp) at night, the light wouldn't turn on unless you left the room. I got used to it after a while. But let me tell you, it was a frustrating experience.
Also, we would always hear knocks coming from the kitchen wall and the kids wall. Now we could probably explain the kitchen (the hot water heater was in that vicinity), but there are no pipes or anything in the kids' bedroom walls. And when we would hear the knocks coming from the room, there was no one there. Anyway, the house wasn't that old, probably mid 50's or so. But there is an old graveyard down the street. Sometimes I would visit it, and I noticed that alot of the people who were buried there died in the 1800's. I don't know alot of history about this section of LA, but I do know it's one of the oldest (the city is Downey, CA. but it was once called Rancho Santa Gertruda).
Please let me know if any of this stuff is relative or not.

Sometimes it's more fun to experience the paranormal than be on the skeptic side. There are just too many things that we cannot understand let alone believe in it. What you and your family experienced is very common and it seems that every entity (who make themselves be known), are attracted to knocking on doors and walls. Lights, T.V.'s and electrical stuffs are very good candidates for them to play with. You have to be fascinated with them when they do simple things like that because they have to relearn all that. And once they learn how to do it... watch out, you will know that they can truly do it.
It wouldn't be a suprise if one of "your friends" came from the cemetery.
