I have been living in my mothers house (she has passed away about 9 years ago). At times when my son is asleep in his room, I will be sitting on my couch and out of the blue I see a figure going from my kitchen to his room. It happens so fast that I often think it is him getting up for a drink. When I call his name no one answers, so I get up to look and he is sound asleep in bed.
There are times I will be in my room at night, just getting ready to lay down, I would hear a faint voice like someone said something to me. I look at my husband and say, "What?", and he says, "I didnt say anything". There has been times that it has felt as if someone sits at the end of my bed. It is just a light touch. Usually when this happens, my middle boy has strange dreams but this is not the same son that I see the figure going into his room.
After hearing the voices and seeing the figure the next morning, my middle son came to me and asked why he had such a strange dream. Which he says he has been having often. He said he can remember dreaming of a bright light and seeing his grandma standing there holding out her hand and saying come to the light, come with me. He only remembers after that saying, "No, I don't want to go", and he wakes up, his heart racing and he is scared. He says he sometimes feels like someone is looking over him at night and he suddenly wakes up (I too have felt as if when I walk into my house alone at night when no one else is there feel like someone is there with me). It bothers me because I do not know if it is my mother or not. I'm sure if it was her. I wouldnt have a scared feeling but I should feel at ease.
Also, I have gotten up in the middle of the night to hear my dog just barking away at nothing I can see but he just barks at something as if it is standing in the dark. I am confused. Could you please help me understand what this is?

Anyone would feel scared too if they did not know what it was that they were seeing or feeling... especially when it interfers with one's daily life. This one was not the case... it's your mom (still lingering here). The reason for that... she's still earthbound and not of her choice. The best thing is to make her feel at home in her own house and talk to her every now and then. Hopefully she will lighten up a bit and you can get use to her appearing every now and then.
She is lonely and wants you and her grandchildren to be with her.
