I have some questions that you might be able to help me with. I was born in a small town in Cuba where Santerismo or African witchcraft was practiced. I have never paid attention to this type of practice and have always lived a Catholic life. The strange thing is that I always find myself involved with the occult or I find people that have some type of "gift".

Santerismo is another form of belief that shot out of the Catholic religion and mixed with local belief. Maybe your place of domicile is mostly "Latino Americano" and with that, there will be a large concentration of people with different denomination and beliefs. But as far as the "gifted" people that you encountered, it is truly hard to know if the person is truly gifted or not. They have to rely on "say so" and exaggerated stories to say that they are gifted. Their belief is not yours and there is nothing wrong with having friends or people with different beliefs. You have to respect that...it is also a learning process.
