I appreciate being able to ask questions! The first one I have is, I believe that I have always known my best friend from an earlier incarnation, and that I will know her again. When I first met her, I was 5 years old, and I recognized her immediately. My first words to her were, "THERE you are." I am now 40, and we are best friends, chosen sisters, and closer than ever. I also believe that the man I love is possibly someone I knew before, and we came together in this life to finish or resolve a problem or conflict that wasn't ended then.
My father died in 1970 from leukemia, in our home. I was 12, the youngest of 3 children. He was physically and emotionally abusive to all of us, including my mother. Years later, as an adult, I found out that when my father was told by the doctor that he had a fatal illness, in the doctor's office, with my mother and the nurse present, he told my mother, "I'm gonna haunt you for the rest of your life." He died approximately 2 years later. It would take too long to tell, but apparently he was seen by my mother and (later) stepfather, and I had an incident where I saw our dog greet an empty chair, (my father's chair), and then the fur from the top of the dog's head to just past his shoulder blades was continuously smoothed, as though someone were petting him. I lived with the nurse's son for several years, and both the nurse and my mother, independently and without knowledge of the other, told me what my father had said in the doctors' office.
Can someone actually decide to haunt someone before they die? Is he still haunting, even though my mother is now also dead? Can he hurt her after death?

The answer to your last question is, no. What is true is that some very extreme case of hatred to the other person can cause some entity(s) to stay earthbound, to do what they feel as justification for their early demise... revenge. This is not the case of your father. Even though he is still earthbound, it was never his choice to stay this way. Seeing a "past" relative is not uncommon.
As for as the first part of your email...none of your assumptions were true. You are not reincarnated as you perceive it to be.
