I have always been taught that India has the oldest civilization. Maybe its because I'm indian, but I have always believed it. Last week I was in an argument with a friend over what is the oldest civilzation. While he contends it is some Middle Eastern civilization, I still say it belongs to India. Can you lay to rest our argument? I would greatly appreciate any help you could provide.

That was a very tricky question to answer and it depends on how you wanted to word it or interpret the meaning. India is ONE of the oldest ESTABLISHED civilizations in the world. But SUMERIAN is the the oldest civilization KNOWN TO MAN. That holds true FOR NOW. We have yet to look deeper into the ancient world regarding civilizations not yet discovered and then how do we relate that to what we can classify as the standard answer. There are a lot of discoveries yet to be made out there but just not enough manpower and funding to support a venture. Unless it's sitting in the middle east's demographic location, for them it's not important. Not just that, science do not want to rewrite history. Science can only determine a timeline of less than 10 thousand years and define civilization somewhere around 5 thousand years.
For your information, there was a mummy discoverd inside of a cave in Nevada that was carbon dated over 7 thousand years, with a garment like leather made mocassin, furs and diamond style woven matt. Mother earth is not ready to give out her pre-ancient civilizations as of yet.
