I read your article about the Yamashita treasures buried in the Philippines. Ten years ago a close friend's family in the Philippines started digging for a supposed Yamashita treasure below their property in the Philippines. The first 30 feet of digging they found a woman's severed skull. They continued digging and have so far reached seawater below 60 feet. Since then the two of my friend's brothers have died from mysterious accidents and my friend himself suffered a stroke and is now partially paralyzed. They have heard rumors about Yamashita's officers intentionally placing the severed woman's head before the treasure as somewhat a "guard" and curse will strike upon those who uncovers her.
How true is this and is there a possible ritual to help her soul rest in peace? I feel like I'm more interested in the woman's history than the treasure itself. Is there any known stories about who these unfortunate souls are and were they chosen randomly or carefully picked by the Japanese army? It must have been very awful for these women when they were about to be beheaded for those occasions of greed by Yamashita.

It's not uncommon to dig skeletal remains all over that island and yet the presumptions of the locals will always be towards the entity/s guarding the treasure. Although coincidence and some other factors will play havoc to people involved, we can at least take care of the entities (for those who believe) and pinpoint the treasure...if it's there.
As far as the partial remains, we tend to give it a rest for that is in the past and we are in the future.
