There are no standard rule for how one marks their treasure. Only the individual will know what the signs and symbols mean. The individual will also create false/decoy signs and symbols to mislead treasure hunters away from the hidden treasure. If the individual hid treasure in more than one location, then he/she would have devised a standard system for themselves to simplify memorization of the locations. It is possible that you could come across such signs and symbols in a number of different geographical areas.
