Unexpectedly, tragedy will strike close to someone. We are often unprepared when it happens. This related account has to do with a close friend and a relative, and our attempts to cure them without having them come to us.
Two phone calls within 30 minutes of each other delivered disturbing news. A friend (Ed) in New Mexico was in the hospital for severe blockage in his left leg. He was not able to feel anything in his leg and the leg was turning "black" in color. Ed was 76 years old, has cancer, had several heart attacks and "by-pass surgery." The diagnosis on his leg was not good and the doctors were considering removing the leg. My partner, Sam, had made a "promise" to Ed, that was not yet fulfilled. Ed could not die before Sam could keep his promise. Sam asked "our friends" for help before it was too late.
"Our friends" would help. By this time, the doctors had made the decision to remove Ed's leg. However, within days of the surgery, Ed could feel a tingling sensation in his leg and soon after, the blockage seemed to open itself, allowing the blood to flow freely. In less than a week, Ed was released from the hospital and was walking several blocks each day, for exercise. Sam thanked "our friends" for their help. See Our Friends.
The second phone call came from California. It had to do with Sam's father-in-law. The father-in-law was admitted to the hospital having experiencing a shortness of breath. He had had a severe heart attack. Again, Sam asked "our friends" to help. "Our friends" could not help, they could do nothing for the father-in-law. Sam's father-in-law would soon die. Sam's repeated pleas for "our friends" help resulted in the same answer, each time. The father-in-law recovered and was released from the hospital.
Sam visited his father-in-law knowing that his father-in-law would soon die. Sam felt helpless and sadness. Several weeks later, Sam's father-in-law passed-away.
